Now, Diana is campaigning to ‘clone and map the entire global forest’ and create a ‘living bank of tree seeds’ so that our global forests are preserved for generations to come.
DIANA’S BIOPLAN
Diana’s Bioplan is an ambitious plan encouraging ordinary people to develop a new relationship with nature, to join together to replant the global forest.
Diana says, “All things are connected on planet Earth, from the burning eye of the volcano and the brilliant colours of a butterfly’s wing, to the chlorophyll of plants and life within the seas. In recent years the tapestry of life has been damaged.”
The Bioplan is the tool to mend the holes in the fabric – so that forests will be planted, the seas will have fish and marine life, the air will have more oxygen and less carbon dioxide.
This is the pledge of mankindto share this planet because it is our divine contract to ourselves and to all others.
How to Participate
Everyone needs to plant one native tree per year for the next six years.
If we can globally plant 48 Billion Trees over the next 6 years we can reverse the effects of Climate Change.

Diana Beresford-Kroeger is a botanist, biochemist, writer and mystic. Raised in Ireland, she spent her youth immersed in Celtic spirituality and the medieval Irish Brehon laws, which are communal ways of being that encourage deep connection between a person and the land.
Now 80, Beresford-Kroeger has spent a lifetime breaking down the silos between science and spirituality. Her study of trees has expanded our understanding of their ancient knowledge and ability to communicate. In her latest essay collection, Our Green Heart: The Soul and Science of Forests, she outlines her “bioplan” — rooted in nature’s connectivity — to ease the climate crisis.
There is a form of divinity in the forests that applies to our whole planet.
Christopher White sat down with Beresford-Kroeger at her home near Ottawa to discuss the souls of trees, what won’t help climate change and how to hope for the next generation.
Christopher White:In your book, you talk about the different elements of the climate crisis. How are we going to experience these elements?

Dr. Diana Beresford-Kroeger, botanist, medical biochemist, an expert on the medicinal, environmental and nutritional properties of trees, and author most recently of The Global Forest.
Diana Beresford-Kroeger is a scientist, gardener, writer and broadcaster who combines medical training with a love of botany. Raised in Ireland, she now lives with her husband on a acre farm and forest in Merrickville, Ontario.
When her parents died when she was 11, she was taken under the care of a Brehon wardship in the South of Ireland, after which she was raised by an uncle who taught her everything from physics to Buddhism and Gaelic poetry. She was one of only two women among over men to graduate in science from University College Cork in , where she had taken on a “crushing load of studies in classical botany, molecular biology, mathematics, and medical biochemistry”.
