Jon Messent
General Counsel and Company Secretary
Jon joined De La Rue as the General Counsel and Company Secretary on 3rd April and has over 20 years’ experience in Company Secretarial, Legal and Governance, having held numerous executive roles in both listed FTSE and private companies operating in industrial, manufacturing, property, security and the defence sectors.His most recent role was as Group General Counsel & Company Secretary with QinetiQ Group plc, a multi-national FTSE operating primarily in the defence, security and critical national infrastructure markets. Jon is highly experienced on both strategic and tactical levels, having run the commercially-focused Legal & Governance team for the last 11 years, which included leading multi-disciplinary teams on project execution and problem resolution, legal advice and facilitation. Prior to joining QinetiQ, Jon had General Counsel & Company Secretary roles at Chloride Group plc, St Modwen Properties plc, Molins plc, and Group Lotus.

The first important aspect of this article is its explanation of the role of music in the church as well as introducing one of La Rues motets. It states that providing music for the whole mass can be a challenge, and that motets (such as La Rue’s O salutaris hostia) can be a good solution due to their length and grandeur.
The next important aspect of this article is its description of different types of pieces and when they can be used. It talks specifically about elevation motets, or motets to by used during communion. It says that many of these were written in the lauda style; a devotional piece sung by the brothers, normally very simple and consistently homophonic.
The last aspect I want to talk about is the description in great detail of La Rue’s O salutarius hostia, and elevation motet used largely during communion. It plays upon the lauda style, though is slightly more ornamented. As the piece progresses, the parts become increasing more independent going into a four part harmony.

Who Was Mahatma Gandhi?
Mahatma Gandhi was the leader of India’s non-violent independence movement against British rule and in South Africa who advocated for the civil rights of Indians. Born in Porbandar, India, Gandhi studied law and organized boycotts against British institutions in peaceful forms of civil disobedience. He was killed by a fanatic in
Gandhi leading the Salt March in protest against the government monopoly on salt production.
Early Life and Education
Indian nationalist leader Gandhi (born Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi) was born on October 2, , in Porbandar, Kathiawar, India, which was then part of the British Empire.
Gandhi’s father, Karamchand Gandhi, served as a chief minister in Porbandar and other states in western India. His mother, Putlibai, was a deeply religious woman who fasted regularly.
Young Gandhi was a shy, unremarkable student who was so timid that he slept with the lights on even as a teenager. In the ensuing years, the teenager rebelled by smoking, eating meat and stealing change from household servants.
