Vincent Kuagbenu removed as YEA boss

The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, Vincent Kuagbenu has been removed from his post.

“H.E. the President has identified Mr. Kobina Beecham, whose curriculum vitae is attached hereto, to be considered for appointment as the chief Executive of Youth Employment Agency,” the statement added.

Mr. Kuagbenu, has been asked to return to the presidency with immediate effect in order to be reassigned.

Vincent Kuagbenu, a former National Service Secretariat (NSS) boss, took over from Kobby Acheampong in June this year when the President reshuffled a number of heads of public institutions and departments.

Wednesday’s edition of Metro’s TV ‘Good Morning Ghana’ was marred by yet another unruly behavior displayed by the deputy Minister for the Interior, Kobby Acheampong, who was a guest on the live show. Mr Acheampong apparently lost his self control, and went for the jugular of the host, Shamima Muslim, attacking her personality. The deputy Minister accused her of being influenced by some unknown paymasters. He refused to respect her capacity as moderator of the show and rather accused her of playing tricks on the show when she insisted Kobby should stick to the subject under discussion and stop discussing other things that had not been raised for analysis. The deputy Minister was captured on the live programme throwing his hands around in anger and virtually pushing his fingers directly into the face of Shamima as he refused to allow her to play her role as host. “I understand the way you operate, I understand the way you operate very well and I won’t fall for that. I will not fall for your trick. You can ask your question but I will not fall for it,” Kobby charged on Shamima and basically refused to let her take control of the prog

Gov’t weighs hospitality sector tax options

Deputy Tourism Minister, Kobby Acheampong has said the government is still looking into concerns over the removal of a tax holiday for players in the hospitality sector. The Government withdrew the tax concession in the budget as part of its drive to boost national revenue. But players in the hospitality sector say it will discourage investments. Mr Kobby Acheampong told Joy News the concerns are being considered. He said the Tourism Ministry together with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre had petitioned the Ministry of Finance and Parliament to reconsider the cancellation of the tax-break that was granted the hospitality industry. He hopes Parliament which approved the cancellation will take a second look at the decision and the concerns that have been raised by industry players. Source: Joy News/Ghana
