Research field work was undertaken in Samburu and Marsabit (for Gabbra, Samburu, Rendille, Saakuye, Dasanach, Elmolo, Waayu a.k.a Waata, and Burji superheroes/heroines), Embu and Tharaka (for Aembu, Tharaka, Ameru and Mbeere superheroes/heroines), Mombasa ( for Boni, Swahili, Pokomo, Segeju and Bajuni superheroes/heroines)and Taita-Taveta/Voi (for Taveta superheroes/heroines) capturing all information about the heroes from the 40 selected ethnic groups/communities by Museum’s research team. The illustrations were done using digital media by Shujaa Stories Limited.

Sayyid Mohammed Abdullah Hassan or Sayyid Mahammad Abdille Hasan (April 7, - December 21, ) was Somalia's religious and nationalist leader (called the "Mad Mullah" by the British) who for 20 years led armed resistance to the British, Italian, and Ethiopian forces in Somalia. Some regard Mohammed Abdullah Hassan as a pioneer of Somali nationalism. Others suggest that his ambition were more parochial and that, while he did unite many clans in his opposition to colonialism he also had rivals among the clans, so the twenty year period of his insurrection was also a time of anarchy. Some see the post situation in Somalia as a repetition of this violent history. Perhaps, if Mohammed Abdullah Hassan had been left to his own devices, he might have established an enduring polity around which other Somalis would have unified into a cohesive state.

Dhagaweyne Abstract At the advent of the 19th century coincided with the awakening of Somalis political consciousness and the Euro-Christian imperialist partition of the larger Somalis hinterland into four portions distributed to; Britain, France, Italy and Ethiopia, the latter represents as the only then black imperialist. Being characterized as the most homogeneous society in Sub-Sahara Africa with the same language, same religion (Sunni Muslims) and adopted one cultural pattern, it didn’t allow them to hunt their colonial interest peacefully. Thus, in a short span, of less than a year the rise of the Dervishes state that carried out the most savagery resistance in the 19th defied all the imperialist misconstruction against Somalis on the authority of being smeared as disorganization and disorderly clannish society.
