Shree Mahavir Bhagwan: Life Stories of the Twenty-fourth Tirthankara
Shree Mahavir Swami was the last and the 24thTirthankar of the current time cycle. His symbol (lanchan) is that of a lion. Of the 24 Tirthankars , He had the most adversities. He had to face a lot of severe karmas. In general, Tirthankars do not face karmas with the same intensity that Lord Mahavir had to face. Despite this, He always remained steadfast and finished each karma with equanimity.
His courage was unmatched, and hence, He was called ‘Mahavir’.
A lot of wonders of the world occurred during His reign. When He attained nirvana, the 4th era of the current time cycle was about to end and the 5th era was about to begin.

About two thousand six hundred years ago, King Siddhartha of Nath Dynasty ruled at Kundalpur of Bihar state in India. The name of his wife was Trishala (Priyakarini).
Both of them lived at 7 storeyed Nandyavarta Palace of Kundalpur.
The name of the parents of Siddhartha was king Sarvartha & queen Shrimati.
One night queen Trishala saw sixteen dreams serially-Aeravat elephant, Bull, Lion, Laxhmi (being anointed by elephants), A pair of garlands, Moon, Sun, A pair of fish, Two pitchers filled with water, Pond with lotuses, Sea, Throne, Viman coming from the heaven, Nagendra bhawan, A heap of jewels & Fire without smoke.

Mahavir Swami was one of those noble souls of the world who gave up kingly comforts and wordly pleasures for the cause of humanity. It was after twelve years, of hard meditation under considerable physical suffering that Mahavir attained enlightenment or supreme knowledge. After attaining enlightenment, Mahavir extensively toured through various kingdoms spreading the teachings of Jainism and converting people to his faith. Though Rishabhdev, the first Jain Trithankar, is considered to be the founder of Jainism, it was Mahavir who organised Jainism into its present form. In his teachings, Mahavir Swami laid supreme emphasis on Ahimsa or nonviolence, truth and purity in life.
The childhood name of Mahavira was Vardhamana. He was born about B.C. at Kundgram, near Vaisali (now in the Muzaffarpur district of Bihar). His father&#;s name was Siddarth who was the head of the Janatrika clan of Kshatriyas. His mother, Trishila was the sister of the foremost leader of Lichchavi clan.
