&#;Deal Junkie&#; Gilbert Harrison on How Some of the Shoe Industry&#;s Biggest Acquisitions Really Went Down
In the M&A world, Gilbert Harrison has seen it all.
After a half century of striking hundreds of deals across fashion, beauty, apparel and footwear — and losing out on some big buys too — the power broker gets candid about the highs and lows of his career in his upcoming autobiography, “Deal Junkie.”
“I wanted my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to know what my life has been like,” said Harrison, who founded Financo in with Stephen Klein, sold it in and bought it back four years later. “I wanted [to provide] some lessons for some of the younger people growing up — what to do and what not to do.”

Financo founder Gilbert Harrison is joining the board of fragrance business Inter Parfums Inc.
Harrison, also the chairman emeritus of investment bank Financo, has more than 50 years of experience in corporate finance and M&A transactions. He founded Financo, which works on consumer M&A transactions, in Harrison served as the head of Lehman Brothers’ merchandising group and investment banking operating committee after the firm acquired Financo, and bought the firm back in Harrison retired as chairman of Financo in December and formed the Harrison Group, an advisory firm for merchandising and products companies.
Inter Parfums has made several fragrance acquisitions and, recently, bought the Guess fragrance license from Coty Inc.
