Reflecting on the Kemmerers’ Legacy
During over three decades of ownership, the Kemmerers reached many proud milestones and are grateful for all the help they have received along the way. When the Kemmerer family bought Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in from original founders Paul McCollister and Alex Morley, they embarked on a plus year journey that brought over $ million worth of upgrades to the iconic Wyoming resort. They replaced the tram, added the Bridger Gondola, and helped to create Jackson Hole Air, the small airline that offers over a dozen direct flights to the local airport, in addition to many, many other accomplishments. Needless to say, it’s been a productive tenure.
Yesterday (Aug. 3), the Kemmerers announced that they will be selling Jackson Hole by the end of the year. The new owners are a pair of local skiers and businessmen, along with their families, who will take the ski resort into its next phase.

It&#;s Official: Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Sold to New Independent Owners
JHMR's owners since , the Kemmerer Family, have officially sold the resort to new independent owners. While the deal was teased last summer, it has officially been finalized, marking the end of a "highly successful and transformative year run of ownership" and placing the resort in the hands of local investors Mike Corbat and Eric Macy.
Owners Jay, Connie, and Betty Kemmerer had hoped to keep the resort independent and family-owned. Successfully preventing the resort from being gobbled up by a large conglomerate, the Kemmerer Family found "the perfect buyers in Corbat and Macy, who are both full-time residents of Jackson Hole." Corbat and Macy have served as JHMR board members for two and nine years, respectively. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort announced Friday that it has completed transferring ownership of the western Wyoming ski hill from the Kemmerer family to two longtime board members and their families.
Siblings Jay, Connie and Betty Kemmerer bought the resort in They announced plans to sell in August, saying they would sell to two board members — Eric Macy and Mike Corbat — their families and a small group of co-investors. At the time, the resort had planned for Jay Kemmerer to stay involved in the ownership group.
A Friday press release announced that the deal had closed and said the resort would not share any financial details of the transaction.
“The Kemmerer family is proud and happy to pass our legacy asset into capable hands,” Jay Kemmerer said in the press release. “Mike Corbat and Eric Macy are great friends and will do an outstanding job leading Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.”
Kemmerer specifically thanked his sister Connie “for providing insight and direction to our new and old buildings, and her contributions to wellness in the valley” and St. John’s Health.
